Twenty-one junior and primary schools took part in this season's Kinder Football League Kids Cup, which took place last Friday at Brumby Hall Sports Ground.
The players had to brave the ice-cold weather but the standard of Football on show would no doubt have impressed the academy's lead foundation stage coach Rob Watson.
Iron stars Kevin van Veen and Niall Canavan were on hand at the start of the tournament to wish all the players good luck.
The top two teams from the initial group stages progressed into the quarter-final stage of the competition.
The first semi-final saw last year's victors St Hybald's Scawby Academy drawn against Outwood Academy Parkwood, while the other was contested by St Barnabas C of E Primary School and Crowle Primary School.
It was St Hybald's Scawby Academy and St Barnabas C of E Primary School who made it to the final, which proved to be a very close affair indeed.
With the score 0-0 at full-time the game was decided by the dreaded penalty shootout and it was St Hybald's Scawby Academy who in the end won 5-4 after the shootout and for the second consecutive year lifted the trophy!
They will now go on to represent the region in the regional tournament later in the season and we wish them the very best.
Stay tuned for information on how they get on.
